GastroAntalya International Gastronomy Stars Meeting took place between November 21-24 with the theme of “Citrus Fruits” at the Antalya EXPO Exhibition Center. It was supported by the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry, and National Education. On the international platform, GastroAntalya was supported by W.A.C.S (World Association of Chefs Societies) and Meditea (Mediterranean Cities Culinary Association) and was organized by APGAD (Antalya Confectioners and Young Chefs Association), TASFED (Turkish Chefs and Chefs Federation), and Karma Event Management. Along with the "International Culinary Competitions" attended by nearly 700 contestants from 36 countries, there were also academic sessions on various topics, culinary workshops, and talks with the participation of famous chefs. Hazer Amani, Rafet İnce, Agnes Caso, Eyüp Kemal Sevinç, Dina Nikalaou, Stefano Marzetti, Ahmet Güzelyağdöken, Sırma Güven, Ebru Erke, and many chefs, gourmets, and academics came together at GastroAntalya 2019. Discussions were held with expert speakers on topics such as Symbolic Flavors of Antalya Passed from Master to Apprentice and Father to Son, Turkish-Russian Culinary Interactions and Similarities, Hygiene and Waste in Tourism and Food & Beverage Facilities, and the Economic Loss of Vanishing Agriculture. Renowned chefs demonstrated how they used citrus fruits in the kitchen during hands-on workshops.
